A bit on Castells
- The Castells (Human Pyramid) is a summer fixture in Catalunya.
- The Catalan tradition originated in Valls, near the city of Tarragona in Catalonia, an autonomous community of Spain with its own distinct language and culture.
- In 2010, the castells were classified by UNESCO as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
- The clubs serve as an important tool of integration, welcoming members from a diverse range of backgrounds, from laborers to businessmen, students to old-age pensioners.
The castells remind me of the Indian festival where humans build pyramids to steal the yogurt (and money) from the pots tied high up in the air. This is in reference to Lord Krishna who would do the same as a child.
